The Governing Board in our district is selected by our community to ensure that the responsibility for educating our students is accomplished. The Governing Board pledges its best efforts to ensure that the district is governing effectively and efficiently so that an appropriate and outstanding educational experience is achieved for all the students in our district.

So, knowing what the ambitious goals for our Board Members include, please meet our elected school board members:
Robert Olivar
President

Robert Olivar attended Ft. Thomas H.S. He was recognized for his athletic abilities and received numerous awards. He graduated in 1980 after completing a successful season in basketball.   He married Ursula Goseyun and has five children. Mr. Olivar is currently serving a second term as a Tribal Council Member for the Bylas District. He has served on the Ft.Thomas School Board for two years.

Mr. Olivar is an advocate for the students of his community. His goal is to insure an optimum educational opportunity for every student in the district.


Norman Sanders
Member

Norman graduated from Ft. Thomas High School in 1964. He attended Eastern Arizona College and then continued his education at Arizona State University, receiving his bachelors degree in education. In 1990 he moved back to Ft. Thomas, and has taught at San Carlos High School for the last seventeen years. Norman is married to Nancy Merrell and they have eight children, six of which have graduated from Ft. Thomas High School.

Norman feels that this school district offers a quality education and many opportunities for students to learn and experience success. There are many dedicated staff members who are looking out for the best interest of our children.
