Health Insurance


Employees working more than 20 hours per week are eligible to receive health insurance benefits as established by the Arizona School Board Association Insurance Trust (ASBAIT) hospitalization/major medical plan.  The District will contribute 100% of the cost associated with the employee's single coverage policy. A family policy is available for purchase with before tax dollars under the District's Section 125 plan.


Dental Insurance


Employees working more than 20 hours per week are eligible to receive dental insurance benefits as provided by Delta Dental Plan of Arizona.  The District will contribute 100% of the cost associated with the employee's single coverage policy. A family policy is available for purchase with before-tax dollars under the District's Section 125 plan.


Other Insurance Benefits


The District offers other supplemental insurance policies, for purchase, to all employees.  Policies include Cancer, Intensive Care, Accident, Accident Disability, Sickness Disability, Voluntary Term Life, Long Term Care, and a Vision Discount plan.  All policies, with the exception of life insurance, may be purchased with before-tax dollars under the District's Section 125 plan.


Life Insurance


Employees having single health insurance benefits are also covered by a $20,000 life insurance policy and a $20,000 AD&D policy.  In addition,  employees electing family coverage receive a $2,000 life insurance policy on their spouse and a $1,000 life insurance policy on each of their children.


Sick Leave and Personal Leave


Full-time certificated employees will be credited with the full number of sick leave and undifferentiated leave days the beginning of the fiscal year (July 1). All leaves are governed in accordance with Board Policy.


Salary Protection


Long-term disability insurance is provided as part of Arizona State Retirement. Payment is part of the Arizona State Retirement deduction from salary and is matched in the District.


Salary Schedules


The 2003-2004 Salary Schedule for certified staff ranges from $24,000 (BA Step 1) to $40,800 (MA +24 Step 26). New teachers coming into the district can receive up to three increments on the salary schedule for experience in other districts. Substitute teachers will be paid at a rate of $70.00 per day. Substitute teacher assistants will be paid at a rate of $40.00 per day.
